Easton

Born in Seoul, Korea, Rosa Kwon Easton grew up in Los Angeles.  A graduate from Smith College, she earned a Master’s in International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and a JD from Boston College Law School.  She currently serves as President of the Board of Library Trustees of the Palos Verdes Library District.  Her work has been published in Craft Literary and StoryCenter.org.  She blogs about family and parenting at rosakwoneaston.com.  Rosa lives with her husband and Maltipoo in Southern California. Her extended family resides throughout the US,  Korea and Japan.

Easton’s first novel, White Mulberry, was published by Lake Union in December 2024.  Juhea Kim, author of Beasts of a Little Land, describes it as “a beautiful and poignant debut novel of a young Korean woman’s coming of age amidst the turbulence of colonization and World War II.  The resilience and self-determination of her heroine vividly mirrors the astonishing trajectory of her nation.” Inspired by the true story of Rosa’s grandmother, it explores racial prejudice of the Japanese against those of Korean birth, and the many challenges of identity and self-determination.  The sequel, Red Seal, will be published by Lake Union in Fall 2026.
